Central Otago A&P Show Secretary Jennifer Huddleston says it was another amazing day in Omakau for 124th Central Otago A&P Show.
“We had great entry numbers in all sections, despite a late opening of entries, and the competition was some of the best we have seen,” she says.
“Our gate takings were up this year and we think there were about 3,500 through the gates this year.
“It was commented more than once to me on the day how busy it was and how many people were there - which is so great to hear and see as we ramp up for our 125th Show next year.”
Over 3,500 people attended the A&P Show in Omakau on the weekend.
Jennifer says the crowds were greeted with fine weather and a fantastic show of performers, entrants and competitors.
“The woodchopping put on a great show, there were fantastic crowds all day long,” she says.
“The shearing at the end of the day was a great way to bring the community together and support our local farmers.
“As always watching the equestrian competition is incredible.
“A highlight for me personally was winning the Amateur Baking section,” Jennifer says.
The woodchopping was a great hit again at this year’s Central Otago A&P Show.
She insists it was not rigged and was a blind judging.
“The kids loved seeing all of the stock and the animals at the Vetlife tent.
“The bikes at Pedalmania were a great hit with children and adults alike. There is something for everyone.
“An absolute success! It seems to get better and better each year and we can't wait to get started on the planning and preparing for our 125th next year.
“Going to be bringing you the best show yet.”
Central Otago A&P Show Secretary Jennifer Huddleston says the show committee can’t wait for next year’s 125th celebration.
Jennifer says the amount of time and work put in by the committee of volunteers is invaluable and success could not have been achieved without them.
“Without them there would be no Show and we cannot thank them enough for all of their hard work.
“An absolutely amazing committee and we would love to have others join us if you are keen to get involved.”
