Alexandra Police arrested a 23-year-old female from Alexandra on Sunday (August 3) in relation to a series of violence offences resulting from her behaviour at the Earnscleugh Hall and later at her home address.

She received bail to an address outside of Central Otago and is due to reappear in the Alexandra District Court on October 28, Alexandra Police Sergeant Derek Ealson said.

Later in the afternoon, Alexandra Police responded to a vehicle collision just south of Shingle Creek.

A Toyota Hiace van had failed to take a left-hand bend and crossed over the centreline colliding with a Mazda motor vehicle.

All parties were taken to either Dunedin or Dunstan Hospital for observations and enquiries are continuing into the cause of the van crossing the centre line, Sergeant Ealson said.

On Saturday (August 2) Cromwell Police stopped a motorcyclist due to his excess speed.

Shortly after the motorcyclist left, he was again observed travelling at excess speed and overtaking on double yellow lines. When located the rider was again issued with several infringement notices and his motorcycle received a green sticker, Sergeant Ealson said.

On Saturday morning Cromwell Police summonsed a 23-year-old male from Alexandra for shoplifting from Hunting and Fishing in Cromwell. He is due to appear in the Alexandra District Court on September 4 and he was also trespassed from the business.

Over the weekend, Alexandra and Cromwell Police attended three family harm matters. In two of these instances Police issued police safety orders.
