Alexandra’s HealthCentral has announced a plan which allows the medical centre to continue to safely vaccinate the community regardless of the Alert Level we are in.

HealthCentral was the first general practice in Central Otago to be given approval to deliver COVID 19 vaccinations.

It is currently delivering around 500 doses each week, and demand for vaccinations have increased since Alert Level 4 was announced last week. 

“In August we have COVID vaccination clinics running almost every day, including weekends,” HealthCentral General Manager Jenaya Smith says. 

”We are experiencing increased demand for vaccines and are well resourced to run additional vaccination clinics should the SDHB and vaccine supply allow for this.”

On Wednesday August 25, Thursday (26) and Friday (27) the medical centre will run a “Bring Your Bubble” vaccination campaign.  

“If you are already booked for your vaccination at HealthCentral, bring other members of your bubble who are aged over 12 years with you and we can vaccinate them at the same time.

“If you are an essential or frontline worker, feel free to just come along and “bring your bubble” with you on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday this week.

“On arrival, please drive-in to the very rear of our carpark. You will need to wait for 15 minutes post vaccination.

“Please do not present for your vaccination if you have any cold or flu like symptoms or it has been less than 21 days since your first dose.

“We only have a capped number of “extra” vaccines available. Those with booked appointments will be prioritised.”
