Reigning champions and Round the Clock juggernauts Breens Construction and Dunstan High School won out on Friday afternoon as competitors of two and four legs ran the Round the Clock Race.
A mostly cloudy and grey day gave way to a chilly evening as runners braved the frigid Manuherekia River.
Dunstan High School impressed in the open team race - the teenagers took out the four-legged category (6mins 13secs) courtesy of their horse runner, while Breens (6mins 51secs) settled for first in the two-legged category.

“I feel bloody awesome,” Jack said. “Shagged though.”
Asked if he would come back next year, Jack was blunt.
“Nah, I’m shagged.”
In the open individuals, it was an all Alexandra affair, as Joost Breuk (10mins 8secs) claimed men’s first place ahead of James Brent.

Joost, a local GP, was understated about his win.
“I’m very tired,” he said. “I thought I’d need a doctor at the end once I’d finished.
“The water was very cold. It is what you want during a long run.
“Now time for a shower. A long hot shower indeed.”
