Three houses in Central have won awards in the Southern region Registered Master Builders House of the Year Awards 2023, celebrating excellence in residential construction.
The Registered Master Builders House of the Year competition recognises the very best homes, builders, and craftspeople across New Zealand. This year the regional competition had almost 300 entries across nine regions.
A Bannockburn home, built by Hunter & Craig Building & Design, won the Southern Supreme House of the Year (under $1M).
This stunning home stood out to the judges for several reasons. It faced the challenge of difficult resource consenting, requiring the home to be concealed from certain vantage points.
The team successfully addressed this by undertaking significant excavation work.
This entrant also took out at the New Home $750,000 - $1M category, Special Award, and a Gold Award.
The build works with rocky outcrops of schist and has a bathroom and glass corner shower close to the rock.
A four bedroom home in Pisa Moorings by Stroud Homes won a gold award in the $1 - $1.5M New Home category.
An in-ground pool, cedar cladding and cathedral ceilings in the Pisa Moorings home.
A silver award in the volume/group housing new home up to $500K category went to a Stroud Homes 180 square metre build in Cromwell.
Classic design with a vertical western red cedar and plaster exterior and dark steel roof and lines of stacked schist tie the house to its location.
The national awards gala will be held in Christchurch on November 25.
