New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT) has boosted sport in Central Otago with $21,600 of funding going to bowls, football and athletics.
The money will be used for salaries for staff at Athletics Otago ($2,000) and Football South ($15,600).
Central Otago Bowls will receive $4,000 to be used for a contractor position.
Together with venues in Dunedin, Omarama and Queenstown, Central Otago gaming venues that contributed to these grants were The Gate, Cromwell, and Grand Tavern Roxburgh.
NZCT has a policy of returning funds to the communities in which they were raised. Around 92 percent of their grants benefit the community where the funds were raised.
NZCT is one of New Zealand’s largest gaming trusts and the biggest funder of amateur sports participation in NZ.
In the 12 months to September 30, 2021, $43.8M was distributed to sports clubs, schools, rescue and ambulance services, and community and cultural groups nationwide.
