10 places to go this Waitangi weekendWhether you’re staying home this weekend, need a break, or looking for something to do with friends and family, there is a lot to choose from in Central.

The sun is forecast to shine on Central Otago this weekend, so let’s get out there, have fun and support our local businesses.

Take the weight off, do something special.

While you’ve got your feet up enjoying that cuppa or glass of chilled wine, why not plan a special weekend away – treat yourself, have a special night away with a loved one, or a break with friends.

Penny's Drop Inn is on the Cromwell Luggate Road, just a stone’s throw away from the open sections of the cycle trail, wineries and Highlands motorsport park.

Gin and tonic anyone? Fizz, owner of the The Gin Stables at the Antique Lodge in Clyde, says she will be opening the Gin Stables tonight for their guests to savour a unique gin tasting experience.

The gin cocktails have been designed by Martyn and Dylan of GinGin, the mint is from a special plant brought from Mt John Station in Tekapo, and botanicals are locally foraged. Very tempting.

Want to go self-contained? CBD Accommodation in Clyde gives you the option to make your own meals, or sample the wonderful cafes and restaurants in the lovely town of Clyde.

Have you been to the beautiful town of Naseby lately, a place where you can journey to the past and experience a simpler time. Naseby Holiday Cottages are a great option for a family weekend stay.

Thinking more of a day trip out?

Monte Christo Raspberry Garden Cafe is set in a beautiful garden, with plenty of room for kids to run around and adults to relax and enjoy the sun. A great idea if you’ve got a house full of visiting family and friends.

Their berry fruit desserts, home-made scones and real fruit ice creams are simply delicious

Benger Garden Cafe is found on the Roxburgh Ettrick road. As well as good food, they have a bird aviary – something a bit different.

If it’s home renovations you’re working on this weekend and you need design inspiration, go get some Zen.

Zen Interiors and Lifestyle Store are in the Cromwell Heritage precinct, and the store is a real treasure trove. Plus, you can contemplate your design ideas over a coffee in one of the lovely cafes in the precinct.

Looking to spoil yourself or someone special this weekend? Or maybe you’d like to plan an unforgettable Valentine’s Day. Rise above all your worries and cares with a Heliview Flights helicopter experience.

We’ve got it all right here in Central and if it's worth doing, it's likely to be on our Whats on guide special Waitangi weekend neat places to visit.

Enjoy your long weekend, and don’t forget to support local, whatever you choose to do.
