Listed: 26 Mar 2024

Trents are a significant player in the South Island foodservice and retail convenience markets.

We have branches and teams across the South Island looking after regional and national customers.

We pride ourselves on our wide range of quality products, great team, dynamic culture and commitment to excellent customer service.

We are part of Foodstuffs South Island, our 100% kiwi-owned and operated cooperative that supports the brands that we all know and love - PAK’nSAVE, New World, Four Square, Raeward Fresh and On the Spot - as well as our Trents customers.

Our purpose is to ‘bring more to the table’ and our success is down to our people who bring their skills, experience, passion and expertise to make Trents and Foodies an amazing and rewarding place to work.

About the opportunity:

We are growing our designated inventory resource, and we have an opportunity for an experienced supervisor to join the team.

We are looking for someone that will ensure that inventory best practice is promoted and followed.

You will also work closely with the wider site team to ensure we consistently meet customer service level agreements.

This is a senior role in our branch, and you will work closely with the branch manager, providing support and cover for that role from time to time.

The position is a permanent full-time role, working Monday to Friday, and likely to be 7.00am to 3.30pm, however there may be some flexibility around the specific hours of work.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Train team members in inventory processes, conduct stock verifications, manage stock replenishment and deletions.
  • Perform weekly quality checks, take appropriate actions, and implement Loss Prevention practices.
  • Determine product placement, manage customer special orders, and oversee supply orders, ensuring accuracy.
  • Handle purchasing activities to maintain optimal stock levels, complete reviews, and follow-up on late deliveries.
  • Liaise with suppliers on supply issues, new products, and promotional opportunities, and provide assistance across branch teams as required.

We believe the successful person will have:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience of wholesale sales/operations, purchasing or logistics
  • Experience in planning and delegating work for others and/or supervising team members
  • Effective time management and work organisation/prioritisation skills
  • Food Safety Programme experience
  • Knowledge of operational Health & Safety requirements
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proven communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships across the organisation.

If you want to be part of establishing this new team and believe you have the skills and experience to succeed in this role, we look forward to receiving your application.
