If you are looking for a role that makes a REAL difference to your community, here is your opportunity to join the Energy Mates team at Family Works, Presbyterian Support Otago. You have the opportunity to advise and encourage clients to make sustainable savings on their energy costs!
About the Role
This is a Casual on-call position working as a EnergyMate.
You will work with work in partnership with the EnergyMate programme to provide energy advice and targeted support to educate and support whānau to live in warm, dry homes with affordable energy costs.
As long as client demand is meet, you have the opportunity to plan your own week. I.e. hours and days worked.
You will work in the Financial Capability team, which is part of our Family Works group at Presbyterian Support Otago. Surrounded by colleagues doing the same, this role will give you the opportunity to make a difference.

About You
We would love you to:
- Understand the social and economic complexities that exist in the community.
- Have highly developed interpersonal skills including relationship skills and advocacy skills.
- Understand core budgeting concepts and the wider impact on individuals/families.
- Skills and experience in computer systems and databases to maximise the use of technology for improved service provision.
- Demonstrate exceptional planning and organisational skills and effectively manage complex and competing priorities.
- Can work independently and as part of a small team.
- Either a current Financial Mentor or prepared to become a Financial Mentor.
- Experience in the social service sector would be an advantage.
- Be able to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
- Full drivers’ licence, you will be visiting clients in their home.
