This is a leadership role. If you are ruthless with standards, and gracious with people, then we’d love to hear from you.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary community team on a day-to-day basis, ensuring the needs of Hospice patients and their whānau are met.

Our standards are high, and we are looking for someone who can not only manage our team, but extend them by driving a dynamic improvement model across all service delivery, education, and professional development.

Our ideal candidate is able to self-manage and effectively coordinate a multidisciplinary team over multiple sites promoting excellence in palliative care provision. They will have excellent communication skills, a quality focus and a belief in the power of teamwork.

Applicants are required to have a minimum of five years post-graduate experience in palliative care or other relevant specialties. Prior leadership experience is highly desirable. The role may be attractive to a Nurse Practitioner looking to extend their leadership skills.

This role works collaboratively with our Dunedin-based Inpatient Unit Team Coordinator and Urban Team Coordinator, ensuing that the hospice service is equitable no matter where our patients live. The role also involves liaison with the healthcare community in rural Otago.

Candidates need to hold a current annual practicing certificate, be eligible to work in New Zealand and hold a clean driving licence.

Full time – permanent role, based out of our Cromwell Hospice Hub (156 Ripponvale Rd, Cromwell) and working across the district.

Enquiries can be addressed to: Louisa Ingham.

We provide care for people with terminal illness, enabling them to live their lives as fully as possible. We work in partnership with our community, offering education, support, care and advice to family, whānau, carers and health and social service professionals, through a patient’s illness and following death.

We support our patients wherever they want to be – that may be in their home, in a residential care home setting or, if their needs are complex, within our inpatient unit. Where we can, we aim to keep people in their environment, symptom-free, for as long as possible.

We affirm life and believe in making the most of it, neither hastening nor postponing the natural progression of death.
