We require a motivated self-starter, who can prioritise tasks and who isn’t afraid to jump in and help where needed.


As a priority, you will need to fit in with our team. A passion for wine is ideal but most importantly being able to operate a sole-charge kitchen consistently making great quality food is a must. Great customer service is essential as you will often be taking counter orders, and so is a positive, friendly attitude. You must be able to manage a whole shift on your feet, work under pressure and be comfortable with manual handling.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Main responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Prepare & cook food on order
  • Receive stock, Prepare and store food items in line with food safety control plan
  • Follow all Health & Safety guidelines and SOPs at all times
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment
  • Make quick and accurate decisions in the heat of service
  • Assist the Hospitality Manager in writing cost effective seasonal menus, function menus and specials
  • Ordering stock and dealing with food suppliers to established budgets.
  • Managing the staff in your kitchen team
  • Manage the FSCP in line with annual audits and inspections for both cellar door premises.
  • Strong inter-departmental communication skills with a willingness to adapt and help where necessary.


Desired Skills & Knowledge

  • Demonstrated ability to work within food safety procedures.
  • A high level of record keeping and attention to detail.
  • You will have previous experience in fast-paced food service roles.
  • Cash handling and point of sale operational experience.
  • Able to work in an extremely tidy, efficient manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that build rapport and inspire trust with customers and the wider team, setting a professional standard for staff.
  • Possess a strong work ethic with the availability to work weekends and evenings as required.



You will report directly to: the General Manager.


You will indirectly report to: Monte Christo Winery owners.


You will work closely with: the Hospitality Manager and the entire Monte Christo Winery team.

About us:

Founded in 1864 by Jean Désiré Féraud, Monte Christo is the birthplace of Central Otago wine. Located in Clyde, we are family owned and operated, focused on producing high-quality Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from organically managed vineyards.


Our current development includes the adaptative reuse of the original 1864 Feraud Winery building into a cellar door, with indoor/outdoor wine tasting and dining areas. We also have three holiday accommodations, a prep kitchen for food service, storage, and a staff office, along with other ancillary elements.


Additionally, there is a 200-ton production winery, barrel hall & dining space, wine education and tasting area.
