We are seeking a dedicated Centre Manager to lead our team, based in sunny Alexandra!


Kopuwai Early Learning Centre is the only not-for-profit centre, in Alexandra.

About you:

This is a role where you will wear many hats.


You will need to be adaptable and meet a variety of needs.


You will have strong, positive communication skills, that encourage, motivate and inspire the team.


Strong community relationships are essential in this role, as well as being responsible for compliance, budgets, liaising with the team on the Governance Board, employment, professional growth cycles of staff, meetings, and internal review, to name just a few - you will be an essential part of decision-making, for the future growth and the positive direction of our centre.

  • Our teachers encourage whānau to be actively involved in their children’s learning.
  • Our kaiako design programmes around ngā tamariki, their current needs and emerging interests, underpinned by the principles of Te Whāriki. Enriched play-based experiences promote creative, expressive and active exploration of tamariki.


Role Overview:

Overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the centre ensures all regulatory and legislative requirements are always adhered to.

What We’re Looking For:

  • B Ed/Dip Teaching Level 7 (ECE) and current teacher registration/certification.
  • An inspirational leader who can inspire and lead a team to deliver best-practice childcare services.
  • Familiarity with the New Zealand Education Council, ERO, MOE requirements, Licensing Criteria, 2008 Regulations and Code of Ethics, Sharepoint, and Storypark.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, innovation, dedication and a passion for Early Childhood Education.
  • Initiative, desire and passion for quality practice standards and commitment to the principles of Te Whāriki.
