Cromwell Youth Trust (CYT) is an established youth service located in the heart of Cromwell, Central Otago.
CYT support and advocate for young people (rangatahi) attending Years 7-13 (aged 10/11 – 18 years old) and run a variety of services and programmes – including a drop-in youth centre, holiday programmes and breakfast club.
CYT is looking for part-time and casual youth workers and volunteers to support & advocate for young people to obtain a greater sense of self-awareness, confidence and gain positive decision-making skills.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has passion and energy, is positive, organised, and able to use initiative.
- Is passionate about positive youth development and supporting our young people first and foremost.
- Adaptable to continued change.
- Has exceptional communication skills and engages with others, especially young people, naturally.
- Is reasonably fit. Is motivated to work in activities inspiring youth through various physical programme e.g. Cycling, paddle boarding and other sports.
- Can develop positive relationships with local community members, businesses, funding bodies and board members.
- Has sound judgement, discretion and maintains appropriate boundaries with young people and their whānau.
- Can embrace and be willing to learn to give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ao Māori principles and values.
- Can legally work in New Zealand
- Has a valid, clean, full drivers licence
- Experience in the Youth sector would be an advantage, but full training will be given to the right candidate.
