Central Otago Health Services Limited is looking for an Administration Assistant to join our dynamic team based at Dunstan hospital

Dunstan Hospital is looking for an experienced Administrator to support primarily our Allied Health and District Nursing Services, with the opportunity to provide support in other areas of our organisation as required.


Your daily support will involve processing patient data, logging of patient events plus general administration tasks including reception / telephone answering.


This role will give you the opportunity to demonstrate your exceptional coordination skills, ability to work as an integral part of a wider administration team and also autonomously. 


You will need to be adept at using your initiative to ensure tasks are brought to a conclusion, as this is a demanding role with high level administration tasks.

The salary range for this role is $65,000 – $74,000 per annum pro rata.


The hours and days of work (excluding public holidays) for the role are negotiable for the right candidate but will comprise of:

56 hours per fortnight, Monday to Friday, to be worked between the hours of 8.30 am and 4.30pm with start/finish times negotiable.


We are looking for someone with:

  • A background in a varied administration position that exhibits your organisational ability, excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
  • A mature and flexible approach, a great communicator with the ability to build a good rapport with our staff and patients alike.
  • The ability to work cooperatively supporting several different clinical teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills teamed with high level computer skills which will include proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, Microsoft Teams and ideally patient management systems.
  • The highest standard of confidentiality, discretion and empathy are essential. Previous experience within the health care industry would be helpful but is not essential. Full training will be provided.
