Central Otago District Council are seeking a Water Meter reader to join the Waters Team. This position is essential to ensure accurate and timely meter reads are carried out on all residential, commercial and industrial water meters throughout the Central Otago district. Full training will be given.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting meter read schedules
• Identify and report meter issues, including incorrect locations, hazards, damaged meters or route optimisation needs
• Build effective working relationships with Council teams, building occupants and the public
• Engage professionally with customers, ensuring clear and respectful communication
• Travel across the district, ensuring safe vehicle operation while completing scheduled meter reads

Desired Skills and Experience

Position Requirements:

• Basic map reading skills
• Strong organisational skills
• A good level of fitness, able to walk for long periods and bend frequently
• The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Full current clean driver’s license
