Our Planning team is looking for a Senior Planner to build depth and experience within the team.

About this Role

The role will be on a full-time basis based in Alexandra or Cromwell with the possibility to work remotely.

You will be responsible for processing complex resource consents while working closely with our Planning Team Leader and Planning and Regulatory Services Manager.


You will support the wider team to ensure statutory timeframes are met and provide robust advice that ensures good planning decisions are made.


There will also be opportunities to mentor junior and intermediate planners.


Our small team also allows you to work alongside our Policy Planners and Support Staff to deliver a high level of service to our community.


What you will bring to the team:

• A degree in planning, resource management or a related discipline.

• Five years plus of resource management experience, including responsibility for the assessment of complex applications.

• A full member of the New Zealand Planning Institute, or eligible to become a full member.

• Organised and can manage workload effectively.

• Experience with computer systems and ability to learn new computer systems.

• Professional written and oral communication.

• The ability to work within a team and with professionals in other disciplines.

• Initiative to identify and contribute to solutions and improvements.


Preferred but not required:

• Some experience and skills in tasks involving managerial, leadership, negotiation, and dispute resolution.

• Experience mentoring, coaching, or training people - even if it is not directly work related.


This is a permanent full-time position working Monday-Friday.


The salary band is between $89,509 - $105,305. Application period for the role will close Monday 12 December 2023.
