The Opportunity
This role presents an opportunity to join Central Otago District Council to develop in the roading space.
Performing in an operational capacity, the Roading Graduate Engineer supports delivery of physical work across Central Otago’s diverse roading network, the development and implementation of roading strategies, policies and plans, and management of Council’s legal responsibilities and obligations as a road controlling authority.
We are seeking a New Graduate to grow into a Roading Network Engineer to support road management activities, and delivery of physical work across Central Otago’s diverse roading network.

What you'll need to succeed
We want someone driven, enthusiastic, and practically minded. A true team player with a desire to live in a stunning and growing community.
Couple this with:
- A degree or diploma in engineering, or relevant experience in roading.
- Hold a full New Zealand Drivers licence
- Competent with Microsoft Excel and Word software
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent customer/public relationship skills.
- Analytical skills and judgement to review technical problems and issues
- Self-motivated, supportive, and adaptable
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team with a minimum of supervision
- Takes responsibility and accountability for their own actions and day to day decision making
- Able to cope with a variety of situations, and resolve potential conflicts with internal and external customers
- Able to listen, express ideas clearly, and report effectively
- Ability to promote the desired interest of the Central Otago District Council through good public relations
