The opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced, permanent (40+ hours a week) Excavator Operator to join their team based in Alexandra, Central Otago.

This position will be responsible for operating heavy machinery; the position will mainly operate 1.7 tonne to 20 tonne diggers. This position would suit a highly skilled Operator with proven experience for/in/around services and/or drainage.

The job includes:

• Operate construction machinery to assist in concrete and construction projects.
• Perform tasks such as digging, trenching, and material handling with precision and efficiency.
• Reading and understanding plans and specifications.
• Conduct pre-start checks on machinery and ensure it is maintained in excellent condition.
• Load and unload materials safely and efficiently.
• Assist with site hazard assessments and implement control measures as required.

What you will bring to the role:

• Extensive experience (4+ years) in building roads using an excavator. Capable of precision work (3-5mm tolerances)
• Must hold a Full Class 1 and W,T,R licence, or a recognised equivalent
• Committed to the business, happy to get on the ground and support the ground crew when required (this is not a sit in the machine all day job)
• Previous people management experience is not essential but would be advantageous.
• Understanding of the importance of Health & Safety
• Reliable, motivated and flexible to work away
