Age Concern Otago is a well-established NGO working across Otago to celebrate, connect, support and respect older people in the community.


We are a proactive organisation looking to grow our team in Central Otago in response to the growing population and increased need for services.


We are looking for a tertiary qualified professional, with sound experience in community work, to join our Central Otago team as a community social worker including responding to reports of Elder Abuse.


We are seeking a person who can be registered in their profession, preferably a Social Worker but open to other related disciplines.


A part of the position also includes working in collaboration with the Central Otago Coordinator to administer our Accredited Visiting Service and manage general enquiries in our office.


This is a full-time position, 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday.


About You:

  • Experience working with older people would be an advantage.
  • You will have proven experience in developing relationships with clients, their whānau and the community demonstrating excellent communication skills.
  • A commitment to bicultural practice is essential alongside a willingness to engage and continue to grow your experience and skills in our team.


This is an exciting role where no two days are the same.


You will travel across Central Otago, have ability to work remotely, and spend time during the week in our Alexandra office working alongside our Coordinator.


You will be joining a passionate and skilled social work team and the wider ACO team who work across Otago to support the health and wellbeing of older people.
