With strong connections to Central Otago and now living permanently in Patearoa, I bring years of experience in community, local and central government to the District.
My focus is to be part of a team that can lead the District through some difficult years ahead for local government while representing the needs of my rural community around the Council table.
Successful communities of the future will have Councils that are transparent, connected and communicative. Strong relationships between Council, Community Boards and their communities will ensure that the ‘local’ is at the core of local government.
Looking outwards, working well with our regional partners while retaining our sense of self, will be essential as will our continued push back to Central Government for increased funding mechanisms and true partnership.
With an increasing sense of challenge in local government, I am prepared to meet that challenge with fresh eyes on the Maniototo.
