Cromwell's cemetery located on the outwash plains of the legendry gold bearing Kawarau River has been in existence since the early 1900s, following the closure of Cromwell's first cemetery at Litany Street.

Located on the south west edge of the town on Cemetery Road, this large cemetery is divided into three sections. There is a section for RSA War Veterans and a section for memorial structures. This is an area where families are allowed to make memorial gardens and structures for family members. The Cemetery also has a section specifically for ashes and interment sites.

Council administers and maintains this cemetery, which is operated as a dry land cemetery. Records for this cemetery are held at our Council's Cromwell Service Centre.
