Cromwell Bowling Club

Alpha St, Cromwell

The Cromwell Bowling Club is situated in Alpha Street Cromwell and incorporates both an outdoor artificial green and an indoor facility with comfortable club rooms. We were registered as a charitable organisation in July 2014.

Membership is open to ladies and to men of all ages. Bowls is a means to relieve the effects of old age and illness, particularly for the elderly and disabled. We are a combined membership club having a strong contingent of ladies teams as well as men’s teams. The membership split between men and women is consistently around 50%.

The Club has an enjoyable social afternoon on a Friday during the summer and on a Saturday afternoon during the Winter months - weather permitting. These afternoons are open to all and are run on a small tournament basis. This is followed by a social time in the club house.

During the winter months, bowls are played in the Stadium of a Friday afternoon and on Saturday afternoons outside - weather permitting.

Coaching for new and existing bowlers is available.

Major tournaments are held during the summer season, with the largest being over the Easter weekend. Regular weekly interclub matches are also held for ladies and men’s teams between clubs throughout Central Otago.

Installation of our new True Draw artificial green was completed on 17 June 2015.

This has allowed for a wider playing window of at least 10 months of the year and will provide further opportunities for both members and the community to participate in bowls. The club acknowledges the generous support of the following organisations with our Artificial Green Project:

Central Lakes Trust, Otago Community Trust, Pub Charity, NZ Community Trust, The Trusts Foundation Community and Cromwell Lions.
