This single trail is a complete contrast to the willow-lined track heading up the Clutha River to Clyde. Here the cycle trail takes you through a steep rocky gorge, with no other access than the old bridle path, winds down beside what are now the upper reaches of Lake Roxburgh Gorge.

This rugged, lonely landscape has an ethereal beauty that envelops you into its own world. Reminders of Central Otago’s rich gold mining past form part of the landscape otherwise you are on your own! Starting at Graveyard Gully, this trail can be accessed via Little Valley Road off Tarbert Street in Alexandra township.
