HIGHLAND STORM is back... and is a dance band - but not as you know it.

Highland Storm

You’ll know the tunes - but you wont have heard them like this - ever.

Welcome to the electrifying world of Highland Storm. Hailing from New Zealand’s south, Highland Storm have burst onto the scene with their unique fusion of traditional Scottish bagpipe tunes and contemporary rock anthems. Embracing the spirit of “Bagrock”, the band has brought together some of the country’s leading bagpipers, musicians and vocalists and their high energy performances and infectious “good time” attitude have had audiences (and their ears) buzzing.

With over 20 years experience, this unique blend of extremely talented musicians and entertainers have performed for conferences, festivals and special events all over New Zealand as well as tattoos and Festivals across the pacific, North America and the world famous Edinburgh Tattoo in Scotland.

Founded by David Pickett – one of the original pioneers of the groundbreaking musical genre known as “Bagrock”, the creative vision of Highland Storm was to reimagine traditional bagpipe music in a modern and innovative way. David is joined by Greg Lindsay (Invercargill), Lee Hart (Dunedin) and John Teviotdale (Queenstown on the pipes, Simon Green on lead vocals, Hollie Longman on Keys and Vocals and Aaron Ives on Drums. Aaron also produces studio accompaniments for the band to deliver a full rock backing.

The Highland Storm style can best be described as a fusion of rock, pop, folk and traditional bagpipe music. They brilliantly combine iconic rock hits from bands such as Guns ‘n’ Roses, Journey and Europe with contemporary hits from Coldplay, The Weekend, The Killers and Avicii. Then they’ll throw in some Dire Straits, Little River Band and Steve Earl. They’ve even got their own special version of a few kiwi classics. And of course all are infused with traditional Scottish melodies, creating an electrifying sound that leaves audiences stunned and wanting more. Their innovative blend of bagpipes, rock backing and vocals coming together with some of the world’s biggest and best known hits is truly something to behold.

When you come to a Highland Storm concert you can guarantee that will hear songs you know and love like you have never heard them before. And it will literally blow you away!
