Held in the beautiful Anderson Park Rose Garden, this free family-friendly event (gold coins will be appreciated) is a true celebration of togetherness, creativity and winter wonder.

What's Happening:

✨Wander through the beautifully lit Anderson Park gardens, where glowing light, colour and creativity come together to create a magical, dreamlike atmosphere. Discover fairy doors, glow-in-the-dark creatures and whimsical creations made by local schools, artists and community groups

🚂 Hop aboard Thomas the Tank Engine as he chugs along the Greenway Express Lane — fun for the whole family!

🎶 Enjoy live music and captivating stage performances from local talent

🎭 Be surprised by roving entertainers, glowing fairies, fire performers and street magic

🎨 Face painting and light-up accessories to help you sparkle

🎩 Register ahead of the night to join the Light Up Your Hat competition and on-stage parade, or dazzle in your brightest attire — roving judges will be handing out spot prizes throughout the night

🏌️Try your luck at the glow-in-the-dark hole-in-one challenge, brought to you by Otago Polytechnic!

🍴Discover two lively food court zones serving up everything from tasty street food to indulgent sweet treats — all perfectly paired with hot chocolate, mulled wine, or a soothing lemon ginger brew to keep you warm.

As the evening draws to a close, the crowd will gather for one of Cromwell’s most magical moments — the mass lantern release. Please note that lanterns are limited in supply and available to purchase online whilst stocks last. Watch hundreds of glowing lanterns drift into the night sky in a breathtaking display of light and unity. It's a mesmerising sight — quiet, beautiful, and deeply moving — bringing everyone together under the stars to share a moment of warmth, hope and wonder.
